Spokane Riverfront Park Plans Deviate from Charm of Riverfront Park. 2014 November Ballots.

As editor of this blog, I was planning to vote for improved streets and parks. But, then on the news, I got a look at some of the plans for the park.

"The committee decided a new building to house the Looff Carrousel – one of the most beloved attractions in Riverfront Park – is needed, too. The outdated carrousel building lacks proper bathrooms and catering facilities. The committee pictured a much bigger building with glass walls so the carrousel is visible from the street. Well, we can already see the Carrousel from the street.
Frankly, the Carrousel is just fine the way it is now, with a charming view of the river.
There are many ways to add bathrooms without destroying the present building.

New plans include moving the carrousel, and putting it in an ugly glass/rock circle..
Frankly, the new proposed building looks like a huge tupperware container, with uncharming "Loof Carousel" misspelled in loopy red script.

In fact, all the new proposed buildings are the blunt-lined shed roofs, wtih metal and glass.
This architecture, while perhaps trendy, slashes into River Front Park's rustic city ambience.

Due to this trashing of our park, I, personally, am not voting for these "improvements."
