You’ll be charged $19.95 for the international call fee itself and $9 per minute thereafter. “Oftentimes consumers say they hear music and then advertising, so they think nothing of staying on the phone. It’s easy to see how quickly charges for these international calls can add up," said Shelley Polansky, vice president of communications for Better Business Bureau Serving Northern Colorado and Wyoming
Consumers who have been duped by these calls report calls coming from Dominican Republic (809), Jamaica (876), British Virgin Islands (284), Grenada (473) as well as Minnesota and Canadian area codes.
If you think you’ve are a victim of the One Ring scam, you should immediately alert your phone carrier and keep an eye on your cellphone bill. If you have not already done so, opt out of all third-party billing to your phone.

The deadly futility of coal mining resurfaces in movies. Coal Miner's Daughter realistically portrays the deadly effects of coal mining. For the profit of only the few, the result is ruined and poisoned landscapes; ruined and poisoned life. Deadly coal mine explosions destroy families, as shown in the metaphorical blast in The Hunger Games, when the death of Katniss' father is seen blowing a hole into their home. Coal is a lose/lose proposition.

Here's an update from Power Past Coal and Climate Solutions:
Together we have generated an unprecedented 330,000+ comments about the coal export terminals proposed in Washington State. We couldn't have done it without you.
But that doesn't mean that our work to ensure a fair and full review of the impacts from coal export is done.
Last year, the WA Department of Ecology determined that they would require a broad evaluation of the impacts of the proposed Cherry Point coal export terminal. The state study will include air and water impacts from coal dust, the greenhouse gas pollution from burning the coal shipped through the terminal, as well as health impacts, marine traffic impacts, and rail traffic impacts beyond our state’s borders.
The decision to review all of the significant impacts from the proposed terminal at Cherry Point was supported by democracy in action – over 124,000 comments were submitted for Cherry Point alone, detailing concerns on the impacts to our health, our economy, and our climate future.
However, last week in the State Legislature, a joint work session by the Senate Environment and Economic Development committees criticized the state for doing a comprehensive study of the impacts from the proposed Cherry Point coal export terminal. We are concerned that we are likely to see bills or budget attacks this session aimed at narrowing the environmental review of coal ports and other harmful projects.
Email your state Senator today.
Tell them that smart decisions depend on good information, and environmental laws like the State Environmental Policy Act are essential to our state’s health and future.
If built, the Cherry Point terminal would be the largest coal export terminal in North America. Its impacts would be felt in communities across the state. And coal is the dirtiest fossil fuel by far. A comprehensive evaluation could not be more appropriate to protect our state. Stand with the thousands of doctors, nurses, parents, business men and women, faith leaders, elected leaders, and students that have demanded this.
Urge your Senator to stand up against efforts to weaken SEPA, particularly in the service of the coal industry.
