Cool air and a shift in the wind helped firefighters on the Colockum Tarps Fire in eastern Kittitas County Wednesday night, and Cooke Canyon residents were allowed to return home this morning. The Secret Canyon, Parke Creek and Coleman Canyon areas — where firefighters were working to protect structures Wednesday — remain closed.

"Tesoro’s proposal would potentially ship up to 360,000 barrels of crude oil every day along the Columbia River and would release more than 56 million metric tons of carbon pollution each year, as much as almost 12 million cars worth of greenhouse gas pollution."

Independence Day July 4,1776 Happy July 4th!

During the picnics, recreation, and fireworks, we can all remember the solemn beginning of this holiday, when 13 colonies came together to make a Declaration of Independence, and an affirmation of the rights and responsibilities of all humans in our eternal vigilance, the price of Liberty.

People in Government Are Spying on Our Phone Calls and Internet June 06, 2013

As we go about our daily routines, we often call schools, doctor offices, hospitals, counselors, friends, neighbors, business associates, and other people. Many of these calls are considered confidential. However, government servants disagree, and are busy keeping track of all our calls and Internet activities, planned for a monster data center in Utah.

"...Jameel Jaffer, deputy legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union. “This is a court that meets in secret, allows only the government to appear before it, and publishes almost none of its opinions. It has never been an effective check on government.”
